Rochelle DeCastro joined CBSSM in 2009. She has a Bachelor's degree in American Studies with a specialization in race and ethnicity from Stanford University and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in health psychology from the University of Michigan.
Rochelle first became interested in health-related research after
contributing to a project on the psychosocial variables influencing
diabetes self-care in the Native American community. Her thesis investigated the impact of demographics, early childhood experiences, and self-concept on women's sexual risk outcomes. Rochelle completed her clinical practicum at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit while
conducting neuropsychological assessments for a study on quality of
life and cognitive functioning among liver transplant patients. She is currently working on a research project with Dr. Jagsi concerning the issues confronting women in academic medicine.
Outside of work, Rochelle enjoys creative endeavors such as art, music, and photography.
